How long fruits and vegetables should be stored

Fruits and vegetables are an essential part of a healthy diet, but improper storage can lead to spoilage and waste. To keep your produce fresh and flavorful, it's important to know how long each item should be stored.

Some fruits and veggies, like apples and carrots, can last for several weeks when stored in a cool, dry place. Others, like bananas and avocados, should be consumed within a few days of ripening.

Leafy greens, such as lettuce and spinach, are best stored in the refrigerator and used within a week. Tomatoes, on the other hand, should be kept at room temperature until they are ripe and then consumed within a few days.

To extend the shelf life of your produce, it's important to store each item properly. Keep fruits and vegetables separate, as some fruits can release gases that speed up the ripening process of other produce.

By following these storage guidelines, you can enjoy fresh and delicious produce for longer and reduce food waste in the process.
